The Friends of Killbear Park Nature Shoppe

While visiting or camping at Killbear Provincial Park, travel to the Visitor Centre approximately 5 kilometers from the main gate, to the Nature Shoppe a small nook located in the Visitor Centre.

The excitement is building, the Nature Shoppe is almost ready for another busy season. This year you will see a new line of jewellery – by Tarnished Treasures, www.tarnishedtreasures.ca. This jewellery is shaped individually from old sterling silver and plated silver cutlery, the pieces include rings, pendants, bracelets, and more, you will not be disappointed by the quality of this jewellery; and.. we have added small stained glass jewellery boxes which we are hoping will compliment the small tarnished treasured pieces. On the shirt scene, you will be able to purchase a t’shirt with your favourite Killbear Park campground stitched on them. One of our campers at Granite Saddle, was passionate to have Granite Saddle stitched on a shirt, a great suggestion Mike! As well, have a new series of children’s books, our well stocked field and nature guide section, and many books written by local writers. In July and August we will have a line of beach wear, and don’t forget the Killbear Park, hand painted canvas bags to carry your goods to the beach. We also carry a variety of Ontario Parks merchandise, too many to mention.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has approved the publication of ‘The History of Killbear Park” this book is a reflection of Killbear as seen by local residents from the early 50’s until 1971, with the final chapter summarizing the Park to current times. You will see the booklet this summer on our bookshelves.

Did you know that the profits from your purchases made at the Nature Shoppe, the proceeds from your membership and donations all remains within Killbear Park for Education, Park Research projects and Special Events and that The Friends of Killbear Park, is a non-profit Charitable organization, managed by a volunteer Board of Directors who work together with senior Park staff all for the benefit of Killbear Park.

While you are in the Nature Shoppe consider becoming a member of The Friends of Killbear Park, you will receive 10% off your initial purchase and on each subsequent purchase for the next 12 months, you will receive a reminder when your membership comes up for renewal. In addition to the store discount you will receive The Friends of Killbear newsletter – The Bear Essentials by email; you will have an opportunity to become a Friends of Killbear Board member; to volunteer your time at any one of the events being held during the summer, and the satisfaction of knowing that your are supporting Killbear Provincial Park.

Till next time, enjoy your time in the Park, we look forward to seeing you at the Nature Shoppe.
